OVERVIEW

Himalayan Haat is a women-led social enterprise in Uttarakhand, producing preserves, chutneys and herbal infusions by hand in small batches at a forest farm. The initiative operates as a farm, a processing facility and a direct-to-consumer brand at the same time, and each of those areas was running through separate systems.

We rebuilt the storefront as a premium ecommerce experience and connected it to the operations behind it, bringing harvesting records, batch production, orders, fulfilment and marketing into a single platform.

PROJECT SCOPE

  • Platform migration
  • Integration program
  • Traceability model
  • Performance engineering
  • Grower records
  • Content architecture

MOBILE APPLICATION

CHALLENGE

A farm, a factory and a storefront on separate systems.

  • Replace the WordPress site with a platform built around the brand and its operating model
  • Bring harvest, grower and batch records into the same system as the shop
  • Pull Amazon and shipping partners into one fulfilment process

WHAT WE BUILT

01

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Discovery and checkout across the full range, persistent customer accounts, the recipe library, and the story of the farm alongside the storefront.

02

FARM AND PROCESSING

Harvesting records, grower records for externally sourced produce, batch records for production runs, and traceability from a finished product back to its harvest.

03

COMMERCE OPERATIONS

One order queue across every channel, Amazon and shipping partner integrations, and automation between order, fulfilment and dispatch.

04

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Email marketing built into the back office, running from the same platform that holds the customer and order data it relies on.

IN DEVELOPMENT

Stock control, WhatsApp and marketing automation.

The platform is an ongoing engagement. Inventory management is extending the ordering system into full stock control across the farm, the processing facility and the storefront, with WhatsApp and further marketing automation running from the same back office as email.

OUTCOME

One platform, from harvest to checkout.

The storefront, the farm and the processing facility now run on the same system. Orders from every channel land in one fulfilment queue, finished products trace back to the batch and harvest they came from, and campaigns run from the platform that already holds the data.

FROM THE BUILD

  • Page speed is a build requirement, not a post-launch exercise
  • Traceability has to reach back to the harvest to be worth anything
  • One order queue beats one queue per sales channel
  • Editorial content belongs beside the storefront, not in a separate system
