OVERVIEW

Next Steps Analytics had developed two sophisticated church assessments: Marriage & Relational Health, and Adult Discipleship. As they scaled, off-the-shelf tools became a constraint.

We turned their proven methodologies into a purpose-built platform, with the scoring model embedded directly in the product so it can be refined and extended without redesigning what sits underneath it.

PROJECT SCOPE

  • Assessment content
  • Scoring architecture
  • Report generation
  • Content validation
  • Load testing
  • Self-serve onboarding

CHALLENGE

Two assessments, outgrowing off-the-shelf tools.

  • Support two assessments with different scoring models from one architecture
  • Hold a church-wide launch where hundreds submit inside a ten-minute window
  • Keep congregant responses anonymised in every church-level view

WHAT WE BUILT

01

THE ASSESSMENTS

Marriage & Relational Health scored across eight dimensions, Adult Discipleship across nine measures, with branching logic for married and single respondents and the scoring methodology implemented directly.

02

REPORTS

Individual reports generated on completion, church aggregate reports for leadership, and circle comparison reports for networks — all three from the same submission.

03

CHURCH SELF-SERVE

One workflow for registration, payment, account setup and custom assessment links, engineered for congregation-scale submission volumes with anonymised church views.

04

NETWORK AND OVERSIGHT

Circle management for comparing churches, proactive visibility into church activity, and central administration of accounts, subscriptions and usage.

SELECTED DETAIL

Three reporting layers, one submission.

Individual, church aggregate and circle comparison reporting are all generated from the same underlying submission, which removes duplicate data entry and keeps every layer consistent with the others.

OUTCOME

A platform they own outright.

Next Steps Analytics owns the platform and can extend it without third-party constraints or licence costs. Churches register, subscribe and begin without manual intervention, new churches onboard through a standard workflow, and circle functionality opened up an offering for denominational and network leaders.

FROM THE BUILD

  • Multi-assessment architecture has to exist from the outset
  • A church-wide rollout is a traffic spike, not average load
  • Anonymisation belongs in the data model, not the reporting layer
  • Reports are the product — they are where the value is realised
